Just stuff.

I didn't go to the Card National in Chicago this weekend. I did not meet Andre Dawson. I didn't even go to Chicago this weekend. I have pulled tendons in my foot and I have a bad cold as consolation prizes of this weekend #MondayMotivation


I did pickup some more cards (75 of them). My favorite is the Ryne Sandberg All-Star mustache.  picked up other HoFers.





I do have more programming done with DaLiLa and started a manual for it also.

More cards

Even though I will be in Chicago during the Nationals, and it free for me to get in, I will very likely not be attending this year. That said, I'm purchasing a lot of cards the last couple of days. 81 cards to be exact for only $11. Makes me wonder if the Baseball Card market is crashing. Every time I accumulate a lot of cards for very little, I don't complain. Mostly because I don't sell and I don't collect to profit. I just love Baseball and I just love baseball cards. B-day Stuff

It has been a great weekend. I had a great day with the family at Arcadia, I have also acquired 11 new Cubs baseball cards from Anne. Some new Pac-Man game room décor stuff from Maddie, and a new Atari arcade cabinet.  I also acquired some D&D crystal rock dice from Amy. An official D&D log book from Vinnie.  August got me a Mustang sign with 7 awesome Stang's.  Parent's got me a nice telescope to top it off.  So yeah, great birthday weekend.   

Game Room room update, Pitfall II

This spring, I have had a trickle of Star Wars, Cubs décor, and D&D stuff come to the game room.  As far as game system, mainly just have the Atari 7800, Sony PlayStation 4, and Sony PlayStation 2 setup for games along side of the Arcade 1Up.

I finally found Pitfall II for the Atari 2600.  Paying $25 plus tax is not ideal, but I also realized this cartridge does not pop up often.  I was so excited to map out a learn this game, but alas after trying both consoles and cleaning the cartridge... the cartridge is dead.  I find it hard to believe it was not tested. :(

I'll see if they will honor the exchange.

Standard Topps 1989 Cubs team set

This week's pickups

 I picked up Star Wars Battlefront for the PlayStation for $3 in really good shape.  Picked up a very high quality Sony VCR for my Atari 2600 for the RF Demodulator. $15 and it looks great on my 70" 4k TV.

It has been a while since I picked up baseball cards, but I picked up nearly 5 thousand of them, and many Chicago Cubs players and HoFers.  Happy with the pickup, but getting to the point I need to start to consider selling.

Illinois Coaches and Managers

 Cubs Extend Contract of Manager David Ross

The Cubs have agreed to terms with manager David Ross on a contract extension through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025.

Ross, 44, is in his third season at the helm of the Cubs having guided the club to a 34-26 record and the NL Central Division title in the abbreviated 60-game 2020 regular season followed by a 71-91 mark in 2021, a campaign in which the team utilized a single-season MLB record 69 players. In 2020, Ross finished third in NL Manager of the Year voting after he became just the seventh manager to lead the Cubs to a division crown in his first season at the helm of the team.

Ross was named the 55th manager in Cubs history on October 24, 2019, after a 15-year major league playing career in which he won World Series titles with the Red Sox in 2013 and the Cubs in 2016. He is the 24th person to both play for and manage the Cubs. He joins Frank Chance, Joe Tinker and Johnny Evers as the only players to win a World Series as a Cub and later manage the team.

Collection Status Update

I'm doing a little bit more every day. Alright, yes it has been a bit since I posted on the "crazy nines" project or the collection in general, so I'm posting a general post. 

First, I'm opening up my baseball card storage room again. With so many 1989 cards - Donruss, Fleer, Topps Standard, Topps Big, Topps Bowman, Score - left to sort that will be going to SO many binders (at least ten binders for just Topps 1989 Standard), I will not have room for these binders in my Cubs baseball card room. The problem with this other room is very poor lighting, so I'm looking at options. I'm thinking that I will possibly put up LED strip lighting on the shelves.  Of course I will need a way to turn this on and off.

I'll probably start hanging some of favorite Cardinals and White Sox stuff in the Cubs Room.  I guess it would no longer be a Cubs room though.  But I'll post more updates on that stuff.

Topps 89 cont / card room video

I am still working on Topps 1989 cards and putting them in binders. I try to do some cards everyday. Sooner or later, it will become less daunting as more and more cards become organized. With three boxes to go through, I have a while to get there.

Completed my Cubs Topps 2014

I don't know why it took so long, but I have completed my 2014 Cubs Team set with 26 cards. Possibly because I have been obsessed with my Cubs 50s and 60s sets. But the fact is I love Topps Standard 2014 cards and the variants. It is truly one of Topps better modern sets.
